You are invited to be a fly on the wall for one of the most anticipated conversations of the year. Join author David G. McAfee in conversation with Father Nathan Monk as they discuss some of the pressing issues of our time. Your momma may have said, “Don’t discuss politics or religion” at the bar, but their momma’s didn’t raise them right.
Join us for an evening filled with laughter and tears as we learn together how to fight against the impending fall of global democracy. Topics will range from religion, Russian misinformation, book bans, abortion, and are vests required to be an antihero.
This evening will not just be a listening room but a full contact sport with an open Q&A, book signings, VIP+ upgrade meet & greet post-show drinks, and opportunities to support local organizations.

ABOUT NATHAN MONK
Nathan Monk is a social justice advocate, author, and former Orthodox priest. He lives in Tennessee with his partner and three children. He is the bestselling author of The Miracle, All Saints Hotel and Cocktail Lounge, and Russian Sleeper Cell.
Having experienced homelessness with his family during his teenage years, Nathan has gone on to found numerous programs providing food, clothing, emergency resources, and shelter. Over the years, he has worked with business professionals and government officials to help bring success to their philanthropic work.
As the founder of the Charity Institute, a consulting firm assisting nonprofits, Nathan works with 501c3 organizations and local governments to address issues associated with homelessness, poverty, and social justice.
He has served as a board member of the Homelessness and Housing Alliance, the Task Force for Human Services, and the Planning Board of the City of Pensacola.
Over his career, he has received notable awards, appointments, and national media for his accomplishments in the area of social justice.
Nathan is also an active public speaker and author. Through writing and speaking, he seeks to educate the public by breaking down stereotypes in our culture about people experiencing poverty and homelessness. His expanded educational programs and consulting work help create nonprofit cultures that are truly client-oriented. With a focus on outcomes over outreach, Nathan believes we can end homelessness.
ABOUT DAVID G. McAFEE
David G. McAfee was raised in part by his fundamentalist Christian grandparents, but never took religion too seriously. This dynamic caused McAfee to be intrigued by what people believe and why, so much so that they went on to major in Religious Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He ultimately obtained dual degrees in English and Religious Studies with an Emphasis in Christianity and Mediterranean traditions.
While in college, McAfee released their first book, Disproving Christianity, and they continued to release new works after graduation, including No Sacred Cows: Investigating Myths, Cults, and the Supernatural. In 2021, McAfee released Hi, I'm an Atheist! What That Means and How to Talk About it With Others, through Macmillan.
In addition to writing books, McAfee is a full-time journalist who has had investigative articles referenced by NPR, CNN, and Forbes. They have a five-acre ranch in Southern California where they live with their wife, Rae, as well as more than 20 farm animals including horses, goats, and chickens.
